For the first time in since 2006 the UW-Milwaukee Panthers are going dancing, folks. Now I’ll be honest, I’ve attended a grand total of zero Panther basketball games in the 5 years that I’ve lived in the greater Milwaukee area. But last night’s game was an exciting one and a much needed win for Rob Jeter & Co.
Milwaukee enters the NCAA tournament with a record of 21-13, which is a vast improvement from last year’s last place finish in the Horizon League. In their last trip to the big dance they knocked off Oklahoma in the first round before losing to eventual National Champion Florida.
Here are the guys to watch next week when you blindly pick the Panthers to pull off a first round upset just because they're from Wisconsin. Leading this year’s team is senior guard Jordan Aaron who is averaging 14.9 ppg and senior forward Kyle Kelm who is averaging 12.4 ppg. Both played crucial roles in their championship game win last night over Wright State; Aaron had 19 points on 4-9 from beyond the arc and Kelm dropped 20 points and grabbed 9 rebounds.
Call me biased, but this team could cause some problems if they draw the right matchup. Remember, it’s March Madness. I know a lot of the Lappers and Lapettes are Badger fans, but you better hope you don’t see UW fucking M in your region this year.
