Even though it's been inevitable for a while now, the Brewers were officially mathematically eliminated from playoff contention today with a 5-3 loss to the Reds. Like I've said before, this team got out to a hot start and played sub-.500 baseball the rest of the season, so this really shouldn't come as a shock. The meltdown at the end of the season was brutal to watch, but nobody expected the Brewers to actually be in the hunt this year. To their credit, they hung in until game 159 of 162, and they gave us a reason to watch baseball for six months. We all wish it could have been seven, but this team wasn't built to make a deep playoff run.
