Channel 3000: A homeless man was stabbed in the stomach and hand after refusing to give up a beer, according to a release from Madison police.
The 32-year-old man told police he was with a group of others underneath the East Washington Avenue bridge over the Yahara River around 10 p.m. Tuesday when the dispute took place between him and a man he didn’t know.
The victim went to sleep after the attack and didn’t call for help. Another person under the bridge saw the man wasn’t doing well and called police Wednesday morning. The man was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
First of all, let this be a lesson in why you should never be anywhere near East Washington if you're not in a car. There's just no reason to be in an area where people get stabbed just because they're drinking a beer.
When I first read this article I was ready to praise this guy for trying to sleep off a couple stab wounds, but I guess what other choice does a homeless guy really have? When homeless people go to the hospital and they can't pay for anything I'm pretty sure they just let em bleed out. Not positive, but that's how I picture it. And call me a pussy, but if a guy's pointing a knife at me and my choices are either to get stabbed or give up my beer, I'm giving up the beer every time. Obviously the guy who stabbed him just took the beer afterward anyway, right? Might as well save yourself a few non-life-threatening injuries and just wait til tomorrow to catch your next buzz.
